Due Wednesday 9/10

Write 1-2 typed, double-spaced pages on the role of a particular archetype/mythology in On the Road. Please use the notes and thoughts that you generated with your group in class. If you were not particularly inspired by the subject your group explored, or if you were not in class, feel free to choose a different one. Some of the choices include:

--Cowboys
--Indians
--Hobos
--Mexicans
--"Okies"
--Sailors
--The West
--The Plains

Specifically, please address the following questions:

In On the Road, what is Sal's take on this particular archetype? Does he buy into it? How? In the novel, how/where does "reality" intrude on the romance of the particular myth? Don't speak generally; please cite specific instances in the text to make your point.

(On your homework, please make a note of the names of the people who were in your group.)
