Announcements

Jhumpa Lahiri, author of the Namesake and the Pulitzer Prize-winning collection of short stories Interpreter of Maladies, will do a reading and Q-&-A session at Brooklyn College on Tuesday, 9/9. Whitman Auditorium, 9:45 a.m. All English 1 students are required to attend; English 2 students are not required, but encouraged, to be there.

I've scheduled a Library Day for Monday, 10/6. For class that week, we'll meet in the library and a research librarian will give us an introduction to using the library for research papers. I'll pass on more info when the time comes closer.

I'm doing a little tinkering with the syllabus. We're going to re-shuffle the reading schedule beginning on 10/20 to make room for excerpts from Colson Whitehead's John Henry Days, which I will hand out to you when the time comes. You don't need to do anything differently for now--just a heads-up.
